Strange people those Belgian folks
For my job I am spending a lot of time in Belgium lately, around 2-3 days per week.
Near the hotel I am staying there is a supermarket, nothing special about that. Like any supermarket with its own parking area there are some parking spaces reserved for handicapped visitors to the supermarket.
To my surprise in between the parking spaces for the handicapped I saw another sign (see picture on the left).
Are they telling me that having a small child in Belgium is the same as having a handicap?!?!
But seriously I think it is not a bad idea to have special parking spaces for people with small children. This same treatment is exercised by airline operators, but it looked a bit silly and made me snicker.
Installing World of Warcraft – Wrath of the Lich King – PTR
To get Wrath of the Lich King I have spent the better part downloading and installing patches. Why don’t they just from time to time put up a new base download kit that includes of of the patches since then, would have made my life a lot simpler. How I had to do this;
- Download the downloader application (1 MB)
- Run the downloader (1.07 GB)
- Patch 3.0.2.8916 to 0.0.2.8962 (280 MB)
- Patch 3.0.2.8962 to 0.0.2.8970 (104 MB)
- Patch 0.0.2.8970 to 0.0.2.8982 (223 MB)
- Patch 0.0.2.8982 to 0.0.2.9014 (76 MB)
- Patch 0.0.2.9014 to 0.0.2.9038 (31.6 MB)
- Patch 0.0.2.9038 to 0.0.2.9056 (8.7 MB)
The downloading is fine, the only thing that is extremely annoying is that after each install you have to accept the TOS and EULA, just to notice there is an additional patch that needs to be downloaded and installed. Come on, really?!? Why not just first check if there is a download available (so before logging in) and apply any patches.
Okay, I know I am making a bit of a fus, but I just had to get this of my chest. Now I am fine :)
BTW, when logging into WotLK the authenticator linked to my account is not used. Not a big issue, since it is just on a test server using account that get wiped anyways, but it was a bit unexpected.
ScribeFire
Just configured ScribeFire so now I can add posts to my blog without having to go to the WordPress site itself.
Not sure if ScribeFire allows for enough customizations to the post, but I will notice that soon enough.
For now it seems to work fine, better than it was working with the XS4ALL blogger site.
First challenge
My first challenge will be transfering all my posts and articles from my other blog site to WordPress not to mention trying to recreate the layout of the blog. Spent quit some time getting it just right.
Will have to do some searching to see if there are some tips available for doing such things. I probably won’t be the first trying to do such a thing.
Anyway, here is the first ‘real’ post for my blog. And now it is time for some shut-eye, it is almost 3am and I have to start working in about 6 hours :s
Take care and be save…
